Chair yearly report

August 21

After many conversations with the EA they eventually moved the portaloo into a more discreet position on the EA carpark. The barrier at the top of the lode was also replaced with a chain and padlock. However, they do say a metal pole will be installed.

We had the speed signs at the top of the old school lane for a couple of weeks and collated information but the truth is that compared to Wicken the speeding through the village is minimal.

October 21

The Environment agency started to prepare the field behind there carpark to a wild flower meadow.

We had the meetings back at the 5 after all the restrictions with covid ended.

Matt Cannon took over the setting up of the new website and this was free of charge.

December

New white lines at the top of Old School Lane and Upware Road. However we could have to wait 3 years for the SLOW signs at the bridge.

Very successful quiz night that raised £185.

January 22

Street light repaired by the EA carpark

Confirmation that the WPC applied for 10 trees to go on the open space for the Queens green canopy

February

Fruit trees planted on the open space

We had a new resident at 2 Upware Road.

New website was now up and running. Laura Petchey and Matt Cannon now deal with the updating the site.

March

A very successful litter pick. Various residents joined in and a great many bags of rubbish were collected.

The large wheelie bins and fence were removed from opposite Lock Keepers Cottage and a bench and planters were installed.

April

Fence and gate erected at the front of the open space.

May

It was decided not to organize a Queens Jubilee event as there was not enough interest by residents.

June

Various emails and telephone calls to the EA concerning the large wheelie bins that are now on the road by the lock. This is ongoing.

July ***UPDATE*** Large wheelie bins that were on the road by the lock have now been removed.

I would like to thank a few residents

Laura Petchey for her sterling work as the URA secretary

Sharon Green for the all work she has done for the URA over the past 5 years.

Liz Tory for battling with the WPC about Upware.

Last but not least David and Lorraine at the 5 miles for letting us hold the meetings here free of charge and the donation of various raffle prizes and funds to the URA.
