Resident’s Association Minutes

Minutes of last meeting were agreed and signed by the Chair. 

  1. Introductions –

 

  1. URA Bank Account – Louisa to send

 

  1. Fundraising Update and Future Plans – Bingo and raffle night was enjoyed by many and raised £650. Huge thanks to Lorraine & Dave for allowing us to host the Bingo night. It was discussed that although the URA funds are in a healthy state, with enough money to cover battery and pads for the defib, it would be wise to have enough extra funds to cover the cost of a replacement defib if the need arose.

Action: Funding opportunities to be discussed at the next meeting  

 

  1. Defib – to cover the cost of a replacement defib if required was estimated to be £1200.

 

  1. WPC Update sent by email from Liz Tory

 

  1. Highways are now aware of concerns about Upware Corner where Upware Road meets A1123. The road is worn and hence an accident-prone site. They are hoping to get this this re-surfaced with anti-skid covering.
  2. There was a planned road closure of the A1123 however since the meeting TC has received communication that these works have been postponed until later in the year
  3. WPC have agreed to purchase x 3 benches for the Upware Community (Open Space) land.
  4. Kiru have a link where Parish councils and /or community groups can apply to borrow thermal imaging cameras to see where their homes are leaking heat. The URA agreed they would be interested in this application.

Action – Chair to inform LT that there is interest.  Chair and secretary to review how to apply.

 

  1. Upware Community (Open Space) Land –
    1. 3 trees donated by Martha Cannon have been planted. Many thanks to Martha.
    2. 10 more fruit trees aquired
    3. Discussion about Upware gardening club, for any residents that were interested. Planned to plant fruit trees on Sunday 5th February at 10am, all welcome if wish to help with the planting.
    4. Benches pictures were circulated and choice made

Action – Secretary to inform LT of choice for WPC to purchase

  1. It was discussed that plans should be drawn up.

Action – Treasurer to explore this option

  1. Brambles have been cut down but roots not removed. Other waste still needs to be removed.

Action – Chair to raise with WPC

  1. Option of having disused phone box on the land – SC to enquire if these are still available from BT

 

  1. Plot 1 – no further change
  1. Events
    1. Upware Litter Pick – will plan in the spring 23
    2. Gardening Club – all welcome to support projects. Please check on Facebook.
    3. King Charles Coronation discussed and suggested that we could Piggy back on the Wicken event

Action – secretary to inform LT

  1. Quiz and bingo - last was very successful and future dates were discussed and it was concluded that early half of 2023 would be the best time to repeat this.

Action – discuss at next meeting. 

 

  1. Moving Forwards – if people have points that they want to raise at the next meeting then please email the secretary davies@aol.co.uk

 

  1. Library of things / Social skill share – this was discussed and decision made that people would ask on Facebook in a post

 

  1. AOB -
    1. Roads issues concerning the access to Upware. Upware road has significant potholes and residents have suffered damage to their cars as a result of these potholes when travelling at normal speed. The roads from Upware to Reach and also Swaffham Prior were now impassable for most vehicles.

Actions

  1. Residents to contact secretary by email by 8th Feb to provide details of road issues they have encountered. Photos would be useful, so residents can also send with their comments. Chair and Secretary can then send collective response to ECDC
  2. CG to send name of contact in National Trust to secretary.
  1. It was raised that dog faeces and dog poo bags were being left on the path between the Lock at the pub. It was suggested that a dog poo bin would be useful at the Lock

Action - secretary to contact ECDC
