Resident’s Association minutes – April 2023

Minutes of last meeting were agreed and signed by the Chair. 

1. Introductions –

2. URA Bank Account – the current balance of the URA is currently £1,037.87 of which £50 is held in cash as a float for future events and £ 987.87 is in the URA bank account.

3. Fundraising Update and Future Plans – Funding opportunities were discussed. Bingo agreed we would like this once per year possibly in Nov 23. Suggestion of raffle. Suggestion of Summer Picnic in August.

Action – Tracy to ask Lorraine re the Bingo if we can use the Nov 23 date for Upware fund raising.

Action - Residents reminded that it would be welcomed if they could attend the monthly Bingo to the local pub. It would also be appreciated if residents could drop off raffle prizes for the Bingo night on a monthly basis to support this through the year.

Action – Laura to put poll on Facebook re date of Summer Picnic

4. Defib – no funds required within the next 3 months. It was also discussed that funding support from local businesses would be useful, such as G’s at Barways 01353 727200 might be worth contacting. Dimmocks Cote may be worth asking.

Action - Matt to contact Laura with details of Defib contact.

Action LP to consider making contact with local businesses

5. WPC Update –
   1. Liz has stood down from WPC. There is a space at the WPC and would like a voice from Upware as a Parish Councillor. If anyone interested meetings 2^nd Tues of every month. Rachel James email to be inserted for contact. Add onto the facebook.
   2. Thanks from the WPC to volunteers on Upware Space
   3. WPC have purchased x 2 benches for the Upware Open Space. Will be delivered to Laura. Will eventually be concreted into place. Pete Haines should be able to help on planning the placement.

6. Upware Open Space –
   1. WPC have purchased x 2 benches for the Upware Open Space
   2. It was discussed that plans should be drawn up.

Action – Treasurer to explore this option

1. Brambles being monitored.
2. Option of having disused phone box on the land

Action – SC to enquire if these are still available from BT

7. Plot 1 – Update – there may be a dispute over the size of the Upware Open Space size in relation to plot 1.

Action – LT to contact WPC. If the residents hear anything to contact WPC. Insert Rachel email and WPC have facebook page.

8. Upware access –

1. Roads issues concerning the access to Upware. Upware road has significant potholes and residents have suffered damage to their cars as a result of these potholes when travelling at normal speed. The roads from Upware to Reach and also Swaffham Prior were now impassable for most vehicles.
2. Circulated letters from Lucy Frazer MP (13^th March); to Leader of CCC from Councillor Anna Bailey- email correspondence from Highways
3. Email update read out from Clive Griffiths
4. It would seem that most claims are being rejected but worth disputing this as disputes are being supported

1. Upware Litter Pick – July will circulate dates
2. Upware gardening club – all welcome to support projects. Please check on Facebook.
3. Picnic - TBC
